Bounded current-code review

Dated 2026-09-19. Baseline: 5c777c965fe7aa3df6b7859fd3f66c0a0d72aab1. Reviewer persona: quality-reviewer. This records the independent implementation review supporting the three-pillars assessment. It is not an attestation or a repository-wide correctness verdict.

Scope and findings

The review inspected the handoff and skill-audit changes since 8169f57c1, their associated tests, and the focused current consumers listed below. Source line references refer to the baseline. No concrete new regression was found in these inspected paths.

Surface inspected Finding and limit
src/gzkit/handoff_api.py:1098; src/gzkit/commands/handoff.py:151; src/gzkit/session_start.py:165 Bounded breadth-first discovery is separated from ancestry ordering. Shortcut DAG edges and genuine truncation are handled; the CLI and session-start expose declared lineage. This repairs ordering and visibility, not discovery of undeclared dependencies or automatic reading of ancestor content.
src/gzkit/skills_audit.py:603; src/gzkit/skill_contract.py; src/gzkit/skill_body_grandfather.json; src/gzkit/commands/skills_cmd.py; scaffold changes in src/gzkit/skills/__init__.py Recognizable unfinished markers, lifecycle-sensitive findings and fixed body ceilings are connected to actionable audit output. These are useful mechanical checks, not proof of semantic completeness or effective instruction design. Existing grandfathered bodies remain large. .gzkit/rules/skill-authoring.md:53 explicitly states these limits.
src/gzkit/quality.py:393; src/gzkit/arb/validator.py:278; tests/arb/test_typecheck_scope_lockstep.py:52 Quality typechecking and ARB command handling share canonical authority. Mutation tests verify that consumers follow changes to that authority; the pre-commit spelling is separately compared. This verifies a named relationship, not completeness of dependency discovery.
src/gzkit/commands/obpi_complete.py:1332; src/gzkit/acceptance_store.py:485; src/gzkit/acceptance.py:206 Actual completion calls current acceptance immediately before the transaction. Missing proof, stale inputs and missing executed BEHAVIOR selectors are blockers. The earlier lite warning-only subgate test mocks completion_review; its result does not establish a completion bypass. The earlier bypass interpretation must remain withdrawn.
src/gzkit/pipeline_runtime.py:604; src/gzkit/commands/obpi_cmd.py:740 Stage-1 airlock remains explicitly diagnostic, with empty leaf-dependent reach and unwired parent invariants documented in code. This is the already-owned ADR-0.37.0 / #807 residual, not demonstrated production impact completeness or a new unowned defect.
src/gzkit/acceptance_execution.py:209; src/gzkit/acceptance.py:206; src/gzkit/acceptance_store.py:400 The broad enumerated input population determines proof currency; readiness also checks declared execution conditions and live SUPPORT/STRUCTURAL-FENCE resolvers. Broad hashing can invalidate proofs after unrelated edits. Narrowing requires trustworthy dependency evidence and a broad fallback when uncertain. Current airlock reach and agent allowlists do not establish that evidence.

The review also read the current body and disposition of #1029: it remains an operator-ruled design investigation. Preserve conservative currency until such a design is established. Avoid the stronger claim that the present digest can never accept stale proof: the code establishes currency relative to enumerated inputs and declared conditions, not every conceivable dependency.

Executed validation

The following exact invocations were run from the repository root. Bytecode was disabled and uv was instructed not to synchronize dependencies. Test fixtures used temporary directories. No repository edits or repository ledger writes were performed during the review or these test runs.

Bash
PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1 UV_CACHE_DIR=/private/tmp/gzkit-assessment-uv-cache uv run --no-sync python -B -m unittest tests.test_skill_body_audit tests.governance.test_handoff_multi_parent_lineage tests.governance.test_session_start tests.test_handoff_cli tests.arb.test_typecheck_scope_lockstep

Observed terminal summary:

Text Only
Ran 81 tests in 2.192s

OK
Bash
PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1 UV_CACHE_DIR=/private/tmp/gzkit-assessment-uv-cache uv run --no-sync python -B -m unittest tests.test_acceptance_integration

Observed terminal summary:

Text Only
Ran 3 tests in 0.469s

OK

Total: 84 existing tests passed. These are the observed summary lines, not fabricated full raw logs or ARB receipts. The tool-session outputs were not saved as separate raw-log artifacts.

The acceptance integration tests exercise missing-proof refusal, readiness after proof/reviews, stale-source refusal and direct ceremony-entry refusal. Their reviewer captures are synthetic and unrelated quality dispatch is stubbed. They do not constitute a complete live completion transaction trial.

Assessment reconciliation and limits

The reviewer subsequently read assessment.md and results.md against this bounded code review and found no concrete correction needed in the implementation claims or the 84-test count. The full-suite/ARB figures, comparative trial execution, and subjects' file-read histories were outside this review's validation and are not independently endorsed by it.

No full suite, repository-wide dependency audit, production Stage-4 observation, or model-comprehension experiment was performed by this reviewer. Passing the selected tests does not establish absence of all regressions. No issue was created, no implementation changed, and no OBPI work initiated. This record is the sole file subsequently authored to persist the review.
